The International Centre for Eye Health
is a WHO Collaborating Centre providing high quality research, training
and information services for prevention of blindness in developing
countries.
The International
Centre for Eye Health has recently developed a laboratory manual and
guide to management of Suppurative Keratitis in developing
countries.
Suppurative
Keratitis: a laboratory manual and guide to management of microbial
keratitis is a useful resource and reference document for eye care
personnel and laboratory workers, providing clear guidelines for
performing a corneal scrape and processing of the specimen in the
laboratory. Protocols for microscopy and culture of corneal tissue
specimens are illustrated with colour photographs, as are the typical
microscopic appearances of the common causative micro-organisms. In
addition, a scheme for identifying bacteria and treatment guidelines are
given.
The manual is available at the International
Centre for Eye Health for UK£f 5.00 plus UK£3.00 post and packing.
